Three CAN networks in Opel Vectra　　　　 The new Opel Vectra is equi ed with three CAN networks co ecting up to 25 units. Due to the different data rate requirements, the CAN networks run on different baud-rates. For high- eed data tra fer and for those areas in which short re o e and tra fer times are required, such as in the power-train area (A , E , and engine management) a 500K bit/s network is used. This not only meets today"s requirements but also allows sufficient freedom for future expa ion without the need to replace major parts of the system. The second CAN network ru ing at 95.2K bit/s is reserved for the area of infotainment. Devices such as radio, di lay screen, navigation system and air conditioning use this network to communicate information to be di layed. Separating infotainment communication functio  in a  ecific sub-network allows shorter i ovation cycles and not redesigning other parts of the vehicle"s electronic. The third CAN network is used for comfort functio  such as central locking, lighting control, electric windows, etc. The baud-rate is 33.3K bit/s, because the tra mitted information is not time-critical. The Opel Vectra"s electronic control units (ECU) linked to the three CAN networks co ects up to 30 se or systems. In order to reduce power co umption, all ECUs su ort power-saving mode. In the User Mode the car can be parked up to 40 days and it still can be started.
